Current Outcomes and Activities
-
In 2024, the PPPA was instrumental in applying and advocating for Town of Sunapee Warrant Article #17, resulting in a $100,000 State of New Hampshire grant to support the development of a Watershed Management Plan
-
The association is leading development of a Watershed Management Plan, scheduled for completion in 2026, to identify and prioritize stormwater management actions and strategies to improve overall water quality in Perkins Pond
-
The PPPA conducts ongoing water quality monitoring through regular water testing to gather long term data on pond conditions and its Weed Watchers program providing early detection of invasive species
-
The PPPA has facilitated increased participation in the NH Lakes Smart program (from NH Lakes) supporting property owners in adopting practices that reduce phosphorus runoff into the pond.
-
The association engages in ongoing advocacy with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, helping elevate Perkins Pond’s needs in state-level water protection efforts
-
The PPPA provides regular education and outreach through guest speakers at semi-annual meetings (May and September) and bimonthly webinars, keeping members and friends informed about water quality challenges and improvement efforts
